Students on attachment at HOSA Field

The Association received students on attachment who are currently engaging in several activities revolving around agriculture. These activities will help the students improve on their knowledge and skills that will enable them to handle the challenges that face the sector.

The students have been engaging in various activities including land clearing and preparations, land measurements and partitioning that is blocking and seedling bed preparation and irrigation systems installations. They will also take part in several others kitchen garden installations for the urban residents using dam liners and other simple containers.

Water being a very key component and a vital requirement to any crop, the irrigation system is very necessary in the farm. The students are therefore given a chance to install the system. Drip irrigation is the most effective way of irrigating crops. The system uses less water and hence reduces water loss.

The students will also have a project of their choice. Have a crop of their choice which they are required to grow and take date on the growth parameters and materials used in production to fully bring the crop to maturity.

The attachment activities are organized to ensure that the learners enjoy their stay and have the peace of mind for them to be able to gather as much information as possible. This also helps them appreciate agriculture and as well us discover new areas of interest in this field.
